Kathryn found her in Maine, sitting on a rock, staring at the ocean, a ragged bouquet of beach peas clutched in her hands.
She was almost upon her when she finally spoke. "Why'd you run?"
Seven turned with a gasp. "Captain!"
"Technically it's Admiral, but I'd prefer you call me Kathryn." She smiled. "Or dear, darling, lover, wife. I'll take any of those."
Seven was shaking her head. "You shouldn't confuse parental love with--"
"I love you, Seven. You can't run from my feelings. From your feelings." She caressed Seven's cheek and whispered, "Honey, haven't you learned: distance is futile."
